Chicago: the good life
Urban Renaissance Publishing announces the anticipated release of its landmark publication, Chicago: the good life,
in the spring of 2013.

Being written by Ed Uhlir, who was at the epicenter of Millennium Park’s design and development, the book will be an intimate narrative of the evolution of Chicago as America's most livable city, where the continuing effort to forge a sustainable future for its citizens has earned it universal recognition as a leader among the world's great cities.

This lavishly illustrated, full-color publication will be printed in a hard bound, 9 x 12-inch format.

A graduate of the School of Architecture at the University of Illinois, Uhlir's distinguished career has been honored with many awards including the Burnham Award for Excellence in Planning from the Metropolitan Planning Council, and the American Society of Landscape Architects National Honor Award for the Lincoln Park Framework Plan; a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects, the Chicago Chapter presented him with their Distinguished Service Award in 1999. Additionally, over forty awards have been presented to Uhlir and Millennium Park, collectively, including the 2006 National Honor Award for Urban Design and the Rudy Bruner Award for Urban Excellence in 2009.

Uhlir's account celebrates the heroic individuals, corporations and institutions whose combined insight and actions have shaped the community's recent renaissance.

John Bryan, one of Chicago’s most notable business and civic leaders, will provide an introduction to Uhlir’s narrative. Bryan, the former CEO of Sara Lee, led the campaign for Millennium Park as well as for the Modern Wing of the Art Institute of Chicago and remains one of the city’s leading advocates for excellence in the arts and urban renewal. Noted for his ability to bring together the private sector, government, individuals and foundations, Bryan possesses a unique perspective that will frame the story of Chicago’s renaissance  of the last twenty plus years.

Between now and early 2013, we will be researching and chronicling the stories of participating companies and institutions in a manner that will tell their histories, celebrate their heroes and communicate a vision of their future in Chicago.

Don't miss your opportunity to participate in this historic event.
